While trying to take our ecom business to the next level and expand into a physical space, we looked at old-fashioned warehousing options and hated what was available.
Long rent commitments of 3 years minimum and 5 years preferred, personal guarantee on rent amount for full term, $1Million liability policy required, but worse they were all old and dingy. We didn't want to stare at bare cinder block walls, piles of boxes, or stuck-in-the-80's furnishings and carpeting. Not to mention the added complexity of managing utilities, service contracts, upkeep, compliance... However most of all we felt we'd be missing out entirely on being able to see and talk to people in our niche if we continued getting a traditional warehouse for our business. That's when we realized it could be us who made that vision possible, for us and for other like-minded entrepreneurs. To build and be part of a community which would help us punch above our weight by collaborating, sharing our knowledge, and pooling our resources. What better way to navigate this fast-changing, competitive industry than with a group of ecom peers. Industrialist Coworking is what we would have loved to see available when we were looking to take our online business out of our living room and into the world. |
